Both Mommy and Graham had a company holiday for Good Friday so Daddy took the day off too. We had planned to try out our zoo membership that we had not used yet, but several other errands got scheduled too. We had dropped Daddy's car off for service and got fitted for contacts by 10. We bought sunblock and killed time until 11. After lunch at CPK, we went to the zoo. Graham fell asleep on the way there and did not even wake up when Daddy put him in his stroller. The zoo was PACKED OUT. Cars were even lining the road outside of the zoo. Fortunately we got a parking spot right in front of the entrance and luckily all of the school buses were loading to head back to their schools.
The zoo has a new exhibit called "Trails of Africa." We thought it was supposed to have a heard of elephants, but there were only 2. Maybe the heard hasn't arrived yet. Anyway, we had been telling Graham about the elephants and even dressed him in his elephant overalls. Mommy showed him a picture of one during breakfast and he said "Moo!" =) Other than that disappointment, the new exhibit is really nice. They have another cafe there and a huge covered area to eat under. But I digress...we had stopped on a bench at the beginning of the Trail to put on sunscreen. This woke Graham up. A little while later, Mommy sat down on another bench because she felt like her feet were burning to put on more sunscreen. 15 minutes or so later after looking at said 2 elephants and a spider monkey, she realizes her purse is missing. Frantically, we rushed back to the bench and there was no purse. Then Mommy rushed to lost and found to discover it was locked. A very nice zoo employee helped me find the lost and found lady who asked me to describe the purse. She had it! Another guest had turned it in. Thank you LORD that there are still good people in the world and for Your divine intervention to put them around that bench. The car service, new tires, and contacts had already created possibly the single most expensive day in a long time. I would have been devastated to have lost the small diaper purse that also held my iPhone, driver's license, debit card and glasses (I was wearing prescription sunglasses.). Again, we are so thankful. After that, we headed to the children's zoo.
Mommy had never been to the children's zoo before. That is where the fountain kids can play in and the carousel is. That is also where the nicest bathrooms are. We will never use the ones at the zoo entrance again. Anyway, in the children's zoo, there is a barn with a petting zoo and that seemed to be Graham's favorite part. After touring through a section of local wild animals, we decided to call it a day. Naps were had by all. Daddy said he had fun except for the 15 minute search for the lost purse.
